I'm not sure how much I really like this once-a-month entry system or something... but I suppose something is better than nothing.
I think today I'm going to talk about "Bob time" and what that's been about lately. Essentially, Bob time is where a couple of the cooks at the caf that I work at and I sit around at a table at about 11 AM (The Price is Right is on, hence Bob time), watch the show (somewhat) and just talk about what's going on around the caf, around our lives, and just stuff. I have a serious amount of respect for Marti and Gail, just because I take the time four days a week (or so) and just sit around and talk and listen to and with them for fourty-five minutes. It's interesting to hear different perspectives of what's going on and such, but it's also enlightening.
Marti is very blunt. She will not sit around and take sh*t from anyone, nor should she. She tells it like it is. There's always something entertaining going on with her - for example, yesterday, she tried calling her son no less than three times (he's on spring break) just to check up on him, make sure that nobody set anything on fire, no human sacrifices, etc.

She'd leave him messages when he wouldn't answer, "Hey, it's me. Call your mama." Simple things like that, but I suppose the thing about those that made them entertaining were the context and the tone of her voice. I really like just sitting around and talking with her, even if it's just for a few minutes here and there. She's almost like my mom down here, when I can't talk to my real mom (yay for different schedules, etc!)
Gail is a lot more mellow than Marti, but she's extremely caring, very out there, and just... Gail. She'll talk about her family and what's going on with them, she'll talk about things that are going on with her - it doesn't really matter - you listen because it's Gail and you want to know her better and enjoy the time with her. Gail has her moments with her sense of humor, too. There was a guy sitting at one of the tables in the caf today who put a little tabletop advertisement circle thing on his head. Marti pointed it out to us, and Gail came up with the bright idea of giving him a paper chef's hat (we have several of those in the back) so that he'd have a real hat to wear and that if he's enjoying wearing the ad thing, that he'd enjoy wearing the hat. Marti goes in the back, grabs one, gives it to him, "Here you go!" and sure enough, he enjoyed it.

Gail is the one who makes sure that everything is going okay as well. We had a tour group come in today near the table we were sitting at and Gail gave a few basic instructions to them as to where stuff was and such.
It's just cool to hang with these two ladies for a few minutes a few days a week. I learn a lot, not just about them and what's going on with their families or the crap happening in the caf, but just about life in general. It almost seems like my own personal Tuesdays with Morrie type feel, but nobody's dying and there's life perspective from two different but wonderful ladies. These experiences help make my day.

And that's all for now.
